One of the biggest tearjerkers in the series didn’t come from the anime, but rather its manga adaptation. It is arguably the 2nd most heartbreaking episode in the second half of the series behind the one where Ray Beams dies. Recommended for mecha fans whom would like to see something with a different vibe. Even though it falls short in a few areas, it is a decent introduction to the franchise and some of its themes.
